Sono nato a Catanzaro il 4 marzo 1958 e vivo a Roma dal 1960.

Provo a rappresentare per immagini la realtà che mi circonda dal 1977.
In quegli anni, per certi aspetti difficili, comincio a percepire la fotografia come straordinario strumento di conoscenza e comunicazione. Uno strumento che, attraverso il gesto fotografico, stimola ad avvicinare realtà a volte distanti ed apparentemente difficili da analizzare ed interpretare.

Comincio anche a capire il tasso di responsabilità che comporta l'atto fotografico e per questo motivo alterno, a momenti in cui prevale lo scatto, altri momenti in cui è lo studio (soprattutto della comunicazione visiva) ad occupare il tempo dedicato alla fotografia.
Preferisco esprimermi attraverso progetti fotografici, articolati in serie di immagini, scrivendo anche dei testi e facendo preventivamente approfondimenti e ricerche sul campo.

Con questa metodologia mi sono occupato, negli anni, delle trasformazioni del territorio (in particolare di quello metropolitano di Roma), dei riflessi di queste modificazioni sul paesaggio (ed inevitabilmente sulle relazioni antropiche), di archeologia industriale, di istanze sociali legate anche al mondo del lavoro.

Questa scelta ha connotato molto il mio fare fotografia. I portfolio e le gallerie che presento rappresentano solo alcuni dei miei progetti e collocati in un determinato periodo (1997/2010). Questi, in un certo senso, mi definiscono sia per le scelte, quelle che ho descritto prima, sia per le sintassi utilizzate: pellicole e diapositive bianco nero, qualche dia colore. Certamente altre storie sono state narrate successivamente con il digitale ma le prime, anche per l’approccio, rimangono più meditate e con una lentezza dello sguardo più accentuata. Comunque devo ammettere che il digitale ha comportato una grande semplificazione dei processi ma, ci tengo a dirlo, non ho mai ritenuto che le semplificazioni possono sostituire, in qualsiasi campo, la forza dell’analisi articolata.

Fondamentale nel mio percorso di ricerca, infine, si è rivelato l’esperimento collettivo esercitato attraverso la partecipazione alle attività di associazioni o gruppi fotografici.
Ho collaborato con enti pubblici e privati, riviste. Talvolta ho pubblicato o esposto i miei lavori.

I was born in Catanzaro on 4 March 1958 and I live in Rome since 1960.

I try to represent the reality that surrounds me since 1977.
In those years, in certain aspects, difficult, I began to perceive photography as an extraordinary instrument of knowledge and communication. A tool that, through the photographic gesture, stimulates the approach of realities that are sometimes distant and apparently difficult to analyze and interpret.
I also begin to understand the rate of responsibility that the photographic act entails and for this reason alternate, with moments in which the shot prevails, other moments in which it is the study (especially of visual communication) that occupies the time dedicated to photography.

I prefer to express myself through photographic projects, articulated in a series of images, also writing short texts and doing in-depth studies and field research in advance.

With this methodology, over the years I have dealt with the transformations of the territory (in particular the area of Rome), the reflections of these changes on the landscape (and inevitably on the anthropic relationships), of industrial archeology, of social issues also linked to the world of work.

This choice has greatly influenced my photography. The portfolios and galleries I present represent only some of my projects and are placed in a specific period (1997/2010). These, in a certain sense, define me both for the choices, those I described before, and for the syntax used: black and white films and slides, some color slides. Certainly other stories have been narrated later with digital but the first ones, also for the approach, remain more thoughtful and with a slower gaze. However, I must admit that digital has brought about a great simplification of the processes but, I want to say, I have never believed that simplifications can replace, in any field, the strength of articulated analysis.

Finally, the collective experiment exercised through participation in the activities of associations or photography groups has proved fundamental in my research path.
I have collaborated with public and private bodies, magazines. Sometimes I have published or exhibited my works.
